It’s an ELA class? Everyone in the class reads a page out loud every class period as we go through the book together. It’s a foreign language class? Every time we get new vocab you have to make flash cards for a grade. I was a parent volunteer in my daughter’s 5th grade class and my biggest feedback for the principal was to retrain their staff on iPads or ban the lessons.

Everyone had jailbroken tablets and were bypassing settings. Like kids configured their tablet to only give remedial first grade lessons so that they could move on to free time … where they googled adult content on devices jailbroke to bypass filters. Yessssss. My students can’t have cell phones but are on chromebooks all day. I think they stopped enforcing it as strictly by the time I was in senior year because we’d had so many lockdowns/evacuations (there was like an average of a bomb threat per week for a month or two in junior year) and the parents wanted to have the ability to communicate with their kids.
