Bite was mildly infected but was able to heal with topical antibiotics. Lymphangitis faded after a couple days, but it was definitely creepy seeing that red line running the length of my arm. I kept a black widow as a pet when I was a small child. Somehow Mom was fine with it. I would feed it all the time, insects and spiders both. One day it made an egg sac and Mom decided it would be better if we kept it outside. Never saw it again. Isnt thw indicator of how much danger youre in based on how close the red line gets to your heart? I was always told if that red line gets to your heart youre basically dead I had sepsis in January from a tumor in my leg that ruptured. There was no red line or anything. I just started hallucinating and getting really messed up. Doctors told me that, had I waited another 24 hours, I probably would’ve died.

Maybe they would just take the school nurses word for it and brought him home, with no need for further checkup. She is supposed to be a medical professional after all. I’d rather be safe and make sure he gets to a hospital asap than do a calculation on whether it’s drastic enough for an ambulance call or not.
