Is there such a thing as white Americans? Racially there are only arbitrarily four agreed races according to the Aunt Horse Mom I Rock Them Both Shirt in addition I really love this U.S. census. As much as people hate hearing these terms a lot of it comes down to minorities and white privilege. White people are the majority of the US. They are “default” America. Anything that is different from that baseline is the thing that appears unique, which is why we hear about black culture, Asian culture, et cetera, but not white culture. At various points throughout American history non white people were repressed and not really allowed to participate in American culture. This forced people into their own enclaves, both metaphorically and often literally. Hell, even the definition of what white means has evolved over time. Irish and Italian people were once not considered real whites. Same with Jewish people despite the fact that most Jews in America are mostly ethnically European. It is still debated. Some people believe hispanic people are white and some don’t.

But, maybe it’s just with rich white Americans as I remember my white friends growing up being different so take this with a grain of salt.

Every country that people have emigrated from has contributed to our shared heritage. So it’s kind of hard to see what American culture is. It is one big smoothie of other things all blended together.
We have brought a few items of our own. Most are consumerism-based (cars, pop culture, rock and roll/jazz) but not all. The Mechau family are wonderful people, specifically Frank’s son Michael and his wife Blakely, who encouraged me to attend school in New Mexico rather than at a ‘tech college’ in California. As a “white” growing up outside the USA I notice the white USA culture all too well and I keep it at arms length. It’s a mountain of BS all the way down. There is many shades of whiteness and my southern European “whiteness” hidden under my Mediterranean tan as I grew up only gave me the position of “honorary” white – not “true” white – amongst some and no better that those African-American or Hispanic-American or Asian-American that kisses Trump’s ass to earn their badge as “honorary” white USA citizens. The “white” propaganda of the USA conservative right is stomach churning sickening. It’s worst when the Christians that are suppose to recognize we are all God’s children also buy into that propaganda. Anyway that’s what happens when xenophobia is allowed to dominate the cultural landscape.
For two reasons: 1) Racist trolling, 2) They are so used to seeing it, that they erroneously believe that the Aunt Horse Mom I Rock Them Both Shirt in addition I really love this lack of it is what defines ‘culture’. Because historically, white culture doesn’t really exist It’s mostly the remnants of wherever your family is from so if you’re talking about certain family traditions or certain foods you eat there’s a country of origin that’s from. There’s very little white people do culturally in the US that is both uniquely American and created by white people. because most american culture is a mix of a bunch of different cultures. a lot of people assume because a culture isn’t 100% original that it just isn’t a culture. “white americans have no culture” is just wrong because everyone has culture, and if it isn’t culture from their ancestors (like immigrants i suppose i’m not sure how else to phase it) then it’s culture from the place they live, or a mixture of both
