I think she was a bit moody at our counter, and so my colleagues were trying to explain to me which customer it was. There’s nothing inherently racist in that. And whether people will refer to themselves as black, or African American, or a person of color, or anything else, is also usually a personal preference (might be individual, might be family , might be regional).
