I’ve lived in two countries with “free” healthcare and in neither one was it even ostensibly free. In one I had to pay insurance premiums and the Amazon Essentials Disney Stitch Winking Spring Easter Bunny Ears Shirt moreover I love this other one health insurance was taken out of my paycheck every month. And while the peace of mind that if something awful happened and I ended up in the hospital that I wouldn’t walk out of it with a bill in the hundreds of thousands of dollars was definitely a great thing, it was also true that the healthcare that you got “for free” wasn’t great. Compared to the healthcare that was on offer if you payed extra, it kinda sucked. And that’s basically it, if you wanna boil it down to a simple explanation. Whenever there is a “free” government option and a paid private option, the latter is way better. Americans can see that as well as anyone and don’t want their quality of healthcare to do down.

I’m not arguing that it would go down but that is the Amazon Essentials Disney Stitch Winking Spring Easter Bunny Ears Shirt moreover I love this fear. I think it’s quite obvious that the American healthcare system is a disaster and they’re spending way more than they should be for what they get but I’m also not a very hopeful person and just because you could make it better that doesn’t mean trying to will actually have that result. I think if you’re an upper middle class person who has good health insurance right now it’s perfectly rational to recognize that while you’re probably paying more than you should for it, you’re getting some of the best healthcare on the planet and making a radical change for the theoretical benefit of strangers you’ve never met isn’t a good idea. They think it’s communism (they don’t know what that means but they hate it), and also they think taxes pay for it (they don’t in the United States because the United States has currency sovereignty and doesn’t need taxes to spend money. Also spending without taxing does not necessarily cause inflation.) basically they don’t understand how taxes work but hate them anyway. They love funding wars from printed money but will never consider funding healthcare with it. A large amount of americas are really really dumb.
