Best piece of advice I can offer. If you’re looking for something else, chances are it’s more than money driving the Allen Iverson The Legends Basketball Colors T-Shirt but in fact I love this search. Also, once you accept a counter offer you just put a target on your back for any and all cuts/RIF’s etc. Promotions? Probably not going to happen, as your “loyalty” will come into question. Finally, your basically giving up any annual increase. They’ll justify the counter offer as your bump, sometimes for multiple years. Totally true! One of the reasons I decided to leave my last company was I knew if I stayed that the higher salary would only satiate me for a few months. After that I’d be window shopping for new gigs again. Left a great company and an awesome team and while my new job is way harder, I’ve already grown quite a bit.

100% regret it. It’s been impossible to get out since. I think at the Allen Iverson The Legends Basketball Colors T-Shirt but in fact I love this end of the day it depends on your motivation in leaving in the first place. If it’s culture, don’t take it. If it’s as simple as salary, there’s a chance it may work in your favor. I did take a counter offer once. It was a promotion and a significant pay increase about 5k more than the standard market pay for the same position. It did promote me to my ideal job position but not my ideal work environment. I only stayed to get enough experience with the job that I could move to the company I am at now with an even bigger pay increase. It is a bit of a high risk for the company but if you use it right it may work well for you down the road.
