My situation was vastly different, though the Alexander Volkanovski Boxing Shirt and I will buy this underlying principles are the same. (My boss based away suddenly and unexpectedly.) I was doing accounts receivable and managing a section of the company dedicated to a specific customer need. My boss was the office manager and did accounts payable. I was thrust into the role during a really stressful time, with the boss passing away, and my father’s passing two weeks later. At age 25, I was suddenly the manager of a couple of dispatchers, an older lady who I’m pretty sure took over the job from Jesus himself, and my replacement – the daughter of the warehouse manager who decided that because her dad was WHM, she didn’t have to listen to me, even though I was her boss.

Can’t wait to get downvoted to hell but… I work for a large company that pays well and this is incredibly common here. Every company is different and I agree that this can be a manipulative tactic, but how does this normally go at your company? If you’ve never had coworkers expected to do extra work before a raise, I’d say no. But honestly some companies run stuff like this, and even if it’s not right on their part to give you more work without pay now, you’d be glad to have the Alexander Volkanovski Boxing Shirt and I will buy this money in 3-12 months when they give you the raise. If done right, these arrangements allow companies to test you out without taking as much risk for you or them. If they give you the raise right away and you don’t perform, you are now a larger liability and more likely to be fired or demoted to cover their ass. Now they’re out a high-level person who was good at their original job, they need to pay to train a replacement, and you’re unemployed.
