I don’t know anyone who does this tbh. My mom’s group talked about such issues. Most just prepare a kid specific meal, or give them a tiny portion of the Alabama Crimson Tide SEC Football Champions 2023 Bring It Home Shirt What’s more,I will buy this main meal and they can request more of what they like. I personally just made my kids try two bites of whatever I made, then they can switch to eating what they prefer, or prepare their own meal (now that they are teens) Eating to 80% full is the ideal way to eat and not overeat. Forcing eating or withholding food tends to lead to EDs. I got whoopings all the time for refusing to eat food I didn’t like. Guess what? I still don’t like them. I now have a long list of foods I hate, this list includes: sweet potato fries, black eyed peas, apple pancakes, beans and rice, mashed potatoes with skin in them, talopia, fish and grits, most desserts with fruits in them, and apple oatmeal. Thanks Mom and Dad, you’ve ruined foods for me! I always had to serve myself. My eyes were often bigger than my stomach and I would take you much. If I couldn’t finish what I had taken I would get told, “you took it, you eat it. “There are starving kids in Africa…” And I would be forced to sit there for hours until I could eat all of the cold food. I was not allowed to reheat it. I still have trouble with portion control and this has caused an unhealthy relationship with food and eating disorder to this day.

I was so shamed by my grandma and mother if I didn’t eat everything they put on my plate, but then fat-shamed every day of my life. My kids have been allowed to stop eating when they’re full. If they get hungry in between meals they can either have their leftovers warmed up or a healthy snack. Nobody tells them when “they’ve had enough” or when they need to eat more. They know their stomachs and appetites better than anyone, so they’ve been given autonomy on that front since they were very young. We control what snacks are in the Alabama Crimson Tide SEC Football Champions 2023 Bring It Home Shirt What’s more,I will buy this house and their lunch bags, and they’ve learned to make healthier choices than any of their friends because of it, but we do have a Snack Box for each of them. They can pick 4 snacks a week from the grocery store that I normally wouldn’t buy. If they eat it all in one day, they know they’re not getting more until next week, so they’ve learned to control portions instead of mindlessly eating an entirely bag of Cheetos or a big bag of Oreos in one sitting. As a mother of an almost 2 year old, I have no choice BUT to force him to eat sometimes. The way my partner and I operate with him are completely different. I like set schedules. Especially eating schedules while our child is young. I like to make homemade food with an occasional eating out. My partner let’s my son does what he wants. If it was up to him my son would eat fast food and junk all day because that’s easier. So, when it’s time for my son to eat home cooked meals, guess what? He won’t. Because Dad’s ways are much better. If we don’t get fast food all day, my son wont eat food until he’s HUNGRY. And as a mother, I can’t have my child starving themselves all day or living off of candy and chocolate, chips and juice. I have to literally sit him in my lap and through fusses, tears and frustration get him to just eat ENOUGH for him to be full and satisfied. Once he’s eaten, he realizes oh I’m full and not cranky anymore. Also children waste a lot of food. The way I grew up, you either eat all that food you got/asked for or know your limit’s and not be greedy. I don’t push that onto my child though. I understand he’s a child and he gets toddler portions enough for his little belly. If he doesn’t eat all of his food that’s not a problem with me. BUT he has to eat FOOD. Thats my only deal. I don’t want him or my next child being raised on fast food and wanting only that when I know how to cook breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks and anything I don’t know how to make, I learn.
