If the Adventure Awaits, Camp Vibes T-Shirt moreover I will buy this farewell lunch is a potluck in the office, politely decline. If the boss is paying for a catered lunch, maybe say yes. People will come and go during the lunch hour. Accept any good wishes and just be superficially polite. When I leave after 6 yrs of being there, they will not see it coming. There will be no time for a farewell to do. I’d rather have lunch or drinks with my friends at work on my way out than share time with people I don’t like (albeit free). Do the farewell lunch. Regardless it’s always good to leave on good terms even if you don’t care for your coworkers. Declining a farewell lunch is in my opinion sort of rude. Just be professional about it. Let them treat you, pick an expensive item on the menu, and don’t make it a long lunch.

Worse case scenario you get a free lunch with your boss. That’s honestly not a bad thing to do even if it’s just you two. Yeah might feel kinda bad if people don’t show up but at the end of the day you arnt gonna see these people again. You’ll get to have a nice lunch with your boss and best case a couple people come and you have a free lunch with pleasant people. This just happened to me last week . I asked for pizza in the confrence room so people could come and go without a hassel, I also didn’t want to be stuck at a restaurant with people I was not fond of .Nor did I want people to feel weird about coming and it gave me a chance to see the ppl I wanted to see
