On the other hand I completely agree with the second half, so I both want to upvote and downvote you at the same time Religion is considered superstition because its inconsistelant. Not only if you look at the religion itself, but also if you look at how it has evolved as a cultural artifact. Its built on unfalsafiable truthes and faith as opposed to testable hypothoses and evidence. Its also the inconsitencies as well as the types of people it empowers. Many religions stress the importance of following the rules that are outlined by the deity and the prophets. The issue is that this changes based on a number of factors including societal evolution, cultual differences, or even the nature of language and translation. There tend to be very few solid rules with the rest of the scripture and belief being up for interpretation. This can lead to moral dilemmas with no clear answer. A lot of the text comes from older dead languages and has been translated many many times. Theres also a lack of primary sources and a lot of secondary sources or just straight up speculation about evens. Some written and some created through oral tradition. Some translations can create falsehoods or adjust the rules to suit the wishes of the translatot. It creates the question of how much does one have to follow the rules and to what degree? Do the people practicing what they truly believe to be moral still have a chance at paradise if their heart is right? Or does it not matter in the eyes of the all powerful deity? God as a concept itself is a human idea as it can encompass any number of things and can be applied in any number of ways. Numerous religions have splits and schisms. How is one to figure out the true path to salvation if it exists? Is there a set path or are their multiple. Religion is superstition because these answers do not exist, and rather are all creations of the human mind and its desire for a deity figure to worship.

Two of those three were at the top level. None seemed particularly egregious to me, and I am absolutely not an atheist, but people have different tolerances and perceptions. Most of the discussion was about how the image depicted insincere trolling and no gotcha was contained, or the OP arguing passionately that the gotcha was successful and indicative. tl;dr: I suspect confirmation bias made the ostensible dumpster fire takes stand out as more egregious and numerous than they were. 147 more repliesI understand religion very well. I’m not truly an atheist, but I don’t follow anything similar to Christianity, which is the big one where I live. Part of understanding religion is realizing that truly good religious people are rare. Most are just decent-to-meh people who kind of just go with the flow of whatever religion they grew up with, and the others just hide behind their religion so that they can disguise their hateful views as religious freedoms. Unfortunately, where I live, the nasty ones are using their religion to justify passing laws that affect everyone, not just the people in their (usually pretty niche) section of their religion. Since I don’t follow their religion, I shouldn’t be affected by their very specific “moral principles”. So long as I do no harm, I should be allowed to live as I please, with whom I please, and present as I please.
