Happy that you got a much better job and I hope your experience you shared here encourages others to work on (or create) their network. I always feel bad for these anti-social types who simultaneously don’t want to make connections at work and at the AC DC’s Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Shirt and I love this same time wonder why none of their former colleagues think of them first when a good job comes open. The job market must vary pretty wildly from industry to industry and state to state. Employment opportunities are quite abundant where I am at. Sorry we are full. Just kidding, the Minnesota economy has always been better than average (and above average everywhere else as well). I still had snow on my lawn 30 days ago… The weather seems to discourage some for moving here.

AC DC’s Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirt

That’s what I tell everyone to work your network. You may not know someone in that field directly but someone you know might know someone or know someone who knows someone. All you need is an introduction and maybe some hype and you could find a position. I got introduced to the AC DC’s Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap Shirt and I love this owner of a media conglomerate you likely use at a wedding. The person who introduced us had shown this person a picture of my nsfw region adorned with temporary tattoos. When officially introduced his words were “oh, you’re the guy with the b*lls.” Was it the best intro? No. Will this drunk person remember me at a prompt better than most of the people they met at that wedding? Yep. I’ll take that for what it is. Down the road that introduction could be good. I got this job through working my personal network. The guy who left the position put me up to replace him because we had a good professional connection.
