Check your bag and look up what you are and aren’t allowed to take in. I got my pencil sharpener confiscated as a bladed article. No advice on actual trial as didn’t get that far, they only had 12 week trials and work asked me to try and put them off (work is not a get out for jury service but they went with the 68 Toriyama Akira 1955 2024 Thank You For The Memories Signature shirt in other words I will buy this people that were more easily available). I wish I did though. The final one was handling stolen goods. The defendant swore at the judge and asked if he was “fucking stupid”. He was a really charming fellow, but quite entertaining. Overall there’s a lot of sitting around and waiting for things to happen. There is lots of talking that could be consolidated into 10 minutes from 1hr + from all the lawyers/judges etc. It’s pretty boring, but did get me out of work for 2 weeks, which was nice.

Except the 68 Toriyama Akira 1955 2024 Thank You For The Memories Signature shirt in other words I will buy this guy was let off because 4 jurors believed that as he swore on the bible/ under oath he couldn’t possibly be lying. Be prepared to argue with fellow jurors who think they understand the law because they’ve watched TV shows. We had very long discussions about what Reasonable Doubt meant and how in our case it really it was just one person’s word against another as we had no evidence (rape case). It was quite depressing, because as a woman I wanted to convict a rapist, but we really didn’t have enough to go on to do so. But otherwise, the experience was interesting and worthwhile. I got called up once. Got a letter saying trial could last up to 8 weeks so managed to get 8 weeks paid leave. Then I got a letter saying they already had enough people and I wasn’t required which was kind of a shame Did mine just after 21st birthday 20 years ago. Lots of scummy bastards on trial, many scummy judgmental jurors (he looks like he did it, probably did it) incapable of digesting the information provided.
