Earbuds/headsets/headphones etc. are more of a safety and customer relations issue. If you can’t hear the 4th of July Ben Drankin Beer Drinking USA America Flag T-Shirt but in fact I love this dangers around you, then injury is easier to occur. If you can’t hear a customer, then you might manifest a Karen out of one.. even the nicest person can get pissed off if an employee can’t hear them when they actually need assistance. — That said, deaf people exist. If music was really the issue here, thats more of a management issue.. If your crew can’t hear their boss give out instructions. BTW, Regional + Market are known to pass along recommendations for Coaching / Firing people.. Its all I’ve ever heard come from their teams to our management.. “Coach or fire people until they correct themselves!” — I remember being on a 2 person unloading team and we were being threatened with coachings by one ASM (pre-cap existance) if we didn’t finish. It was literally a minimum 5 person job, with 2 people… Found out he was being told by MM team to coach us as a motivation, that we were replaceable. Even without music/podcasts/documentaries I’m a person who tends to zone out while working and not register people are near me or even talking to me if I’m not looking right at them. I get in my own head and used to get in trouble for never answering my radio even when it was on and I had nothing in my ears because I would legit just tune it out and not realise that anyone was calling my name. I was too busy writing a story in my brain. I’ve also bumped into people before as well just from not registering their presence.

So for me, it doesn’t make a difference except having something to listen to makes the 4th of July Ben Drankin Beer Drinking USA America Flag T-Shirt but in fact I love this time go by and I get to learn shit I’m interested in. I used to get bitched at for wearing headphones when I was doing returns after the store closed and there was no customers. I don’t get the big deal, there were no customers and my work was still getting done. stupid power tripping managers (2nd shift Dairy/Frozen worker) I logged into my music app on my work phone and bluetooth a bud in my ear. When a coach or lead stops me I tell them it’s for the walkie feature on the phone. You best believe if I’m going into either of those rooms, I’m blasting music. Especially the freezer. We got 5 pallets on the floor and I gotta move all of em every day to vizpick. My store is mad annoying. They tell us “no earbuds or headphones” but I see folks all the time walk around with headphones on…meanwhile our team leads in ogp or down our throats about it.
