I do know a lot of families with kids that went through “eat nothing” phases where meal time looked like torture but was actually just them trying to get any calories other than dorito based ones into the 2024 Reliaquest Bowl LSU Tigers Raymond James Stadium College Football Bowl Games 23 24 Shirt and I will buy this kid, so from the outside looking in I think it’s important to understand we’re seeing one snapshot of something they go through every day and not to assume they’re forcefully over feeding their kid. But I’ll never understand parents who forvr well self regulated kids to eat portions beyond what the kid would have taken for themselves. Unfortunately my mom was one of the kids that was picky to the point of malnutrition and assumed I was the same and realized too late that I was happy to eat as much as I could of whatever was put in front of me. Now as an adult it makes sense because she’s the odd one out and both my father’s family and my mother’s family have histories of obesity and over eating. So. Whiffed that one mom. Ah well. Ironically it’s my cousin that got the “eat nothing” characteristic, and HER mom (my mom’s sister) is very much a fat shaming kind of person so now my cousin has the muscle mass of a twig, the diet of a picky 3 year old, and a legit fear of food.

So. Swings and roundabouts. My view is that parents quite simply need to stop being the 2024 Reliaquest Bowl LSU Tigers Raymond James Stadium College Football Bowl Games 23 24 Shirt and I will buy this parent THEY needed and start being the parent THEIR KID needs My father was raised in poverty and always wanted me to eat more. My paternal grandmother lived in severe poverty and always wants everyone to eat more. My mother was always very skinny in her childhood and my maternal grandparents were children when WW2 ended and were poor generations back even before that. My “no thanks” was pretty much ignored until I was an adult and had to be super firm with my “No” and then they looked at me like I was rude or a weirdo. Some parents wants their child to eat more since they know how it is not to have much. I think its a form of trauma. Overfeed children and guests to show their love (and subconsciously ensure they are not starving), then wonder why on earth they get sick or overweight. Also if the parents have worked hard to get money and then their child doesn’t inhale the food, it can feel like a slap to the face for them and they overreact. “BE THANKFUL FOR THE FOOD EAT IT ALL.”
