I think it’s a fair figure because If they would be splitting with a roommate they would be looking at £1000+ for subsistence anyways. More if they wanna live alone. Charge them a decent amount like £250 and just bang it in a savings account for them and give it back when they buy their first house. Think of a fair sum. Double it. Put half towards household costs and the 2024 Atlanta Braves member team shirt besides I will buy this other half in a high interest account for them. When they are ready to move out they’ll have a more realistic expectation of costs and a nice little lump sum to go towards their new place. My son pays £350. Dig Money It covers Food, Toiletries, his share of Council Tax and Mortgage, and Utilities. Its a fair amount. He is happy with it and voluntarily raised it a couple of ago.

My son earns about 1700 a month at 22 after tax and he gives me 400 a month, I’ll also be giving him some back when he moves out. From what I remember it was something like 200 a month but that was to cover heating, electric, food and if we wanted anything specific it would have to be from our own money My grandfather charged my dad one seventh of his earnings, and he did the 2024 Atlanta Braves member team shirt besides I will buy this same for me. So if I was earning £1,500pcm, he’d have charged me £215 or thereabouts, probably only £200. 34 more repliesMy mum used to charge me housekeeping of £50 a week once I was out of full time education and in employment. It wasn’t for savings though, it was obviously towards the cost of housing another adult – I’m not sure why you would charge them and then give it back, it doesn’t make much sense to me as you aren’t actually covering any of their costs and also it’s not a real intro to adulting either.
