I always think of a Rolleiflex when I see this particular sign, but cameras like a Chamonix are beautiful to use. It is a 20th century roll film camera that uses a bellows. Probably modeled after a camera like the 20-24 Years Donald Trump President T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this Mamiya C3, But with just a single lens. It’s the iPhone 20 with its 2 cameras and the additional 3rd lens attachment on the side that is available for the low low price of £699 Thanks… thats completely thrown me ..all i can see now is a picture of a premium shelf speaker in front of a cd rack, which now means “turn your volume up” when i next see it. This is nearly the most ridiculous thread I’ve read on here. Anyone who thinks it’s not an old style camera is wrong. There weren’t any cameras with this “two lens” style when this was designed. Who, in their right mind, would design a sign that looks nothing like the thing they are trying to depict. No one in 1990 would recognise that as a camera. But everyone would Recognise a bellows camera. When I was little I always thought those signs meant it was a good opportunity to take a photo because of the scenic surroundings It’s an old camera. It’s like asking if the save icon is a floppy disk or an SD card that looks a bit like a floppy disc. “Well cameras don’t look like that any more! So it can’t be.” You’re not saving anything to floppy disc any more either but it’s a symbol that basically has a meaning outside of its literal depiction now.

It’s a non descript large format film camera from the 20-24 Years Donald Trump President T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this Victorian era. Invented in the early 1800’s and popularised by the mid 1800’s. What’s all this talk of Victorian? They were making bellows cameras into the 1920’s and later. The smaller circle is the knob you pull out to hold the film spool in place. The larger lower one is the one you turn to wind the film through for each shot. It was only in 1992 when they started using Gatsometers (the yellow box types) as speed cameras. SPECS cameras, the ones that look like ordinary CCTV cameras and do average speed checks, came in even later in 1999. So it depends which speed camera you think it looks like, but either way, they aren’t what the sign depicts. Same reason a Floppy Disk symbol is still widely used as the save icon. It’s just so engrained that even people who have no idea what a floppy disk is know what that icon means.
