My mom didn’t see my friend and I actually in bed sleeping. She blew up my friend’s phone leaving voicemails demanding we come home right away. Happy Mother’s Day Reminds me of what one of my favorite YouTubers said when talking about toxic parents “your parents are just two adults that fucked that’s it” I had a 3rd shift (overnights) job while I briefly still lived at home after graduating high school. I was 19 and was told by mom that my curfew was to be 10pm…my work shift started at 10pm…. Their entire life, the most of a curfew they had was in the summer when they were playing outside at night with their friends and we said “Time to come in” because we wanted to go to bed. When I was in my early 20s and living with my parents, I had a bedroom door that would only open from the inside. One nice Michigan summer day, I got incredibly high, took a relaxing shower, than fell asleep in my room in only a towel. The next thing I know, the local police are cutting my bedroom door open. I was sleeping so wonderfully I wasn’t responding to my mom pounding on my door. I had to remove another door in the house from its hinges to replace my bedroom door because I can’t sleep with an open door. My husband, when he had just graduated high school, had 2 jobs and had been burning the candle at both ends for weeks. He was home and told his step mom he was going to take a shower. After like an hour and a half she started to get worried because she wasn’t hearing the water turn off so she went to the door and called to him. He didn’t answer so she really freaked and started pounding on the door. Still no answer. She called his dad at work fully convinced he died in the bathroom somehow. My father in law drove home and picked the lock. He couldn’t get the door open because my husband was laying on the floor and his legs were blocking it. Finally he used a ton of force and got it open and was prepared to find his son dead. He gets up to him and shakes him and my husband groans then wakes up. He told me he was so tired from working so damn much that he literally remembered thinking, right before he was going to get in the shower, that he was going to lay on the floor and close his eyes for 2 seconds. Needless to say he instantly fell asleep. He was in such a deep sleep that none of the noise woke him up. My poor mother and father-in-law still have PTSD over it.
