I became fascinated with the Your feedback is appreciated now pay $8 T-Shirt in other words I will buy this concept of trace italienne ever since John Darnielle’s ‘Wolf in White Van’, a novel about a text based snail-mail RPG centered on trying to reach the center of a trace italienne. I remember during the guide they told us the rock was cut out from the sea and it was soft like sponge until it was dried out and hardened. I went to St Augustine back in 1996, all I remember is the smell, it smelled like death. I’ve been in on autopsies and I’ve worked in a clinical lab for 18 years… I’ll never forget that smell Another cool fact: it’s cool to the touch! You can place your hand on a wall that has been baking in the direct sun all day and it feels cool, as in physically cool!

I think the security is probably better now, but not too long ago you could use the cannonball divots to scale the walls and make out on the top. Allegedly. Also hopping on to the top comment to say it was never taken in battle and only changed hands via trades. Also it’s the only National Monument that doesn’t fly the American Flag. It was owned by the Spanish for much longer than America (I think 2050 it will finally be owned by the US for longer) They also used it for building in Denham, Western Australia and you can visit the mining location. Quarrying is no longer permitted since it is a World Heritage Site.
