This. I worked in a call centre for a bank. My stats were constantly being monitored. 80-100calls all day non stop. I still have PTSD from that job This sounds like my job. I am still working from home and at the You look like the 4th of july makes me want hot dog real dad shirt But I will love this end of my 11 hour work day I need about 20-30 minutes quiet time before I am ready to interact with the wife. I’m usually quite stressed out and annoyed after an 11 hours onslaught of bullshit so I’m not a very nice person to speak to directly afterwards haha. This annoyed me more than it should, it’s a pet peeve of mine. Not being funny but if my job entails speaking to customers, addressing their concerns and generally dealing with members of the public for 8 hours a day, you’re going to want a little bit of alone time. For me, what I do is when I get home I see what needs doing, is it house work? is it the dishes? is it putting clothes out on the line to dry and I put in some headphones, put on a podcast or a playlist and get to it. After that, I’ll start dinner and I’ll relax while I’m doing this and that gets me into a better frame of mind and by the time my partner arrives home, I’m in a much better spot energy wise.

Like if OP is working 9-5, gets home at 6 then isn’t ready to talk until 9/10 with a lot of working adults going to bed at 10 I can see that being hard on a relationship. What are you really doing during that time though? If you live together, you’re already seeing each other every day, you are going to be spending pretty much every weekend together. People need a bit of time to themselves, and have shit they need to do. Cook together, hangout etc. A lot of people (including me) often work one of the weekend days and see family on the other so weekday evenings can make up a lot of couple time. Yeah, I get that. I just want silence and stillness. Some days are worse than others. I do feel tried though, absolutely drained, totally inability to do anything. Weekends are a right off whilst I’m working. Takes me until Saturday to feel ok. Then Sunday depression kicks in because I’ve got to work the next day.
