I don’t care about MTs if they’re cosmetic. I’m all for that sort of thing. I would also like a balance between that and earning in game currency. What OW1 had initially was nice with loot crates. You shouldn’t be able to buy crates. You should get them as you play and level your account up. Get duplicates of things, and you get coins to spend on cosmetics. Or you can just straight up buy the You Know Bro Guardians Jose Ramirez Home Run Pitch Shirt and I love this cosmetics you want. Win win win. Additionally, DLCs shouldn’t exist inside of a game from the beginning that require you to buy. Expansions and DLC are NOT the same thing. I don’t mind cosmetic MTs either…except when it’s in a full price game. That’s just bilking your customer base. Same discussion as in 2009 Wotlk WOW when they were selling that abhorrent spectral flying mount or horse thing for 12 or 20 bucks. They’ve been charging more for mounts in WoW for probably a decade now – Mounts that don’t provide any gameplay benefit compared to the mounts you earn in game. The only people who are surprised by this outcome haven’t been paying attention to Blizzard’s decisions in a long, long time. They don’t respect gamers anymore. Counterpoint: if players are willing to pay $25 for what amounts to in-game art, why should Blizzard respect them?

They’re clearly not respecting any customer. But they’re making money of people and that’s all they care about. No big business respects the You Know Bro Guardians Jose Ramirez Home Run Pitch Shirt and I love this customer. At least in-game monetization has been mostly cosmetics (for now). I remember a time not long ago where people understood that was direction studios were going, and were fine with it. I guess we’re dusting off the pitchforks for that now. Nah mate. I don’t blame spoons for me being overweight. If people are willing to buy, and WoW is the best example people ARE willing to buy, there will be always someone willing to sell. In fact, they do respect gamers will to buy this shit. You don’t blame the tool. But you can blame the advertising company that pervasively seeps into every aspect of your life for making you think you want to eat more.
