Well, we will be lucky to get this game any time soon, sadly. Aside from some of the You Just Can’t Stay Seventeen Forever Vintage George Lucas’ Teenage Chronicles American T-Shirt and by the same token and devs enlisting to fight the Russians, they are also beset by hackers of the same. I can already tell it’s gonna be a bugfest, look what game devs in peaceful countries are making. Those mfs are developing out of Ukraine, so it’s probably gonna be pretty bad bug-wise Some of the space required for each install could be saved if games using real-world scenery shared assets. Have a base directory of various textures & shapes, if the one a game uses isn’t already there, then add it. If it’s there, use it. If assets are licenced they can be used, if not then they can either add their own or use whatever generics are already in the library. The asset library could grow quite large over time, but the space savings for each game could be perhaps 50% or more.

I remember installing the You Just Can’t Stay Seventeen Forever Vintage George Lucas’ Teenage Chronicles American T-Shirt and by the same token and first fallout when it came out. It had a couple options for size. The smallest required more cd loading. The biggest was called humongous and would store the whole game on your hd and it was around 600mb iirc. And I remember impressive demo .kkrieger that had a 96kilobyte download with game engine executing in ram in real time with graphics better than Quake II/III or Unreal 🙂 It’s because graphics are being improved but the gameplay is being decreased. Gameplay>graphics any god damn day. badly optimized rushed games, meanwhile TOTK with 3 maps and realistic physics and all its details 16 gb… I wish all developers would put that amount of love into their games. My msfs 2020 folder with all world updates and some free mods is 260 GB in size and I don’t really play it anymore… Yep, I can only fit like about 9 or 10 games with. That much on my PC. Show I gonna need to get a lot more Storage Cards for games like these. Maps, models and textures are to blame. The actual game engines are rarely that big and sometimes the DRM can blow the main executable up to triple or more in size. Didn’t the devs/publisher say they were going to add crypto stuff & NFT’s a little while back? That was the reason I cancelled my pre-order.
