He obviously should have been putting more effort in the Yes I’m A Member Of The CSI Team Can’t Stand Idiots Shirt so you should to go to store and get this stuff that he is able to do – basic cleaning, tidying, etc. It sounds like, at the moment where you snapped, he was legitimately trying because he knew that this is something you want him to learn, and he was too embarrassed to ask for help because he wanted to make you proud and prove himself to you. Maybe I’m wrong and he was purposefully fucking up to lower expectations, but I feel like that was maybe the wrong time to snap when he is actually trying. You probably want be with someone that can take care of these very basic human needs themselves, and I don’t blame you for that – it’s not your job to teach anyone how to perform these basic tasks. You guys weren’t meant to be, but IMO you ended it in a cruel-fashion and if I was in your shoes I would apologize about how you went about expressing your frustration but you still feel like you aren’t meant to be.

You are not wrong, but as an adult, you have absolutely no excuse at not being able to do something as simple as breakfast. Like what was he doing before going out with OP? Cant toast bread? Are you serious? Not wrong if it bothers you.. not going to lie, my own father is pathetic when it comes to cooking and while I grew up thinking he just didn’t enjoy cooking or do it well, as an adult I realize he doesn’t put in the Yes I’m A Member Of The CSI Team Can’t Stand Idiots Shirt so you should to go to store and get this slightest effort and is entirely dependent on my mother or he doesn’t eat remotely healthy. If she leaves for a week he survives on crackers, he won’t even fry an egg or anything. So, best to nip that in the bud if it’s not negotiable. I would never want to be the only person in a relationship doing the cooking and I say that as a guy. Personally, I think it should be a shared chore unless one of you is a pro chef and even then, no reason both can’t take turns unless someone in the relationship is super finicky and just doesn’t care for the other’s cooking. But what you describe is just a sort of laziness I’d not want to deal with either. Picking your pants up off the floor, wet towels and pubes out the bathroom is literally just stuff every one does right?
