I absolutely love your style now and i think that if you like it you shouldn’t change it. But if you do want to dress more adult i’d say get some low rise jeans, or maybe mid rise. Digging your quirky style! Try playing with accessories, mix up shoes and untuck sometimes. Remember, your style is YOUR adult! hi! just wanna say i absolutely love your style and it looks AMAZING on you, side not, in 8th pic where are your jeans from? they look so good I don’t think there’s anything wrong with how you dress. Just because we get older doesn’t mean we should grow up A lot of these pieces could work so don’t feel the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but need to invest in a completely new wardrobe. Other commenters have made great suggestions:) Try wearing more neutral colours and less corduroy or jeans but instead trousers. Aritzia is a good place for trousers and they have “short” sizes which helps. Bodysuits are also a good choice if you like to tuck because they are smooth and won’t untuck and look messy or frumpy. I actually think your skirt look is really cute! I think maybe if you wanted a more professional look you could ditch the green top and pair it with a mock neck ribbed sleeveless shirt or bodysuit in a neutral colour like cream. For example something like this

Audrey Tautou has some stylish looks that might be right up your alley. Also, go for wrinkle-resistant fabrics or iron your clothes, makes a massive difference! I need to follow this advice too lol. I think you’ve got a hipster work look going on with the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but beanies and knits/cardigans/crops/ultra high waist and jeans. If you want to look a bit more professional avoid anything with a worn out appearance (like your shoes). There’s a corporate business look which is probably too far from your style. So sticking to blazers, accessories like a watch might be good? And anytime I see midriff i would think you’re going out rather than workplace. Boden has lots of classic fits with colours or quirky patterns, maybe that could fit your vibe? They also have a petite range. I think your style is awesome anyway but I understand the need to « fit » in!
Love your style! You have the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but right silhouettes in most pics- people have given you really good advice on your jeans/pants. One thing that can elevate your style is fabrics and texture! Go for 100% cotton, linen etc… stay away from polyester no matter how cute the style is. Invest in 1-2 100% wool coats/blazers in neutral colors for optimal usage Maybe switch to a Chelsea boot to look more polished? I also always recommend the naturalizer flats, sooo comfortable. H&M has nice slacks in different colors that come in petite. Your tops seem to have a lot of variety. I’d find a style/color/cut that you like best/feel most confident and kinda stick to it just to create a more cohesive wardrobe consider presentation, is your blouse wrinkly or steamed? Shoes scuffed? Do they need to be polished or cleaned?

Some information about Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt

When I entered a professional environment I was given a tip that really helped: get as much done the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but night before as you can. Prep breakfast, pack your lunch, set out your clothes, steam them, check your clothes for any small stains or tears, try them on to make sure it looks the way you want, pack your gym bag so I can go straight to the studio in the evening. I’m an adult (I’m 38) and I love your style! I would wear a lot of your clothing to be honest lol. I think it comes down to some minor tweaks with fabrics and proportions. For example, your last photo the cardigan is great, I would switch the top below for a more fitted tank top/body suit, or maybe a silk camisole. For the bottoms, you could wear a pair or tailored wide leg trousers or wide leg jeans in a dark blue.
For your outfit with the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but short skirt (adorable by the way!) you could switch the top for a fitted wool turtleneck (short or long sleeve), just to update it a bit. I find as I’ve gotten older, I gravitate towards more natural fabrics and tailored garments. But I still love to have fun with trends and colors! I think jumpsuits might also be a fun thing to look into! I was surprised how much older they made me look. There’s options at Athleta (the brooklyn jumpsuit?) and h&m. The style is a waistcoat top and long wide-legged pants. This alone, or with a blazer/collared jacket would look great I like your outfits. I would add a chic blazer jacket or even leather motorcycle jacket. Something well tailored. Maybe a sleek modern purse. I was always told as a kid “when you’re an adult you can choose exactly what to wear” and now that I’m an adult everyone shames me for my choices of clothing. It’s wild.
I love your style, it’s all mom jeans and sweaters kinda feel but your youthful and creative personality shines through it. I think that’s your “problem”. I wouldn’t say problem necessarily but if you want more maturity in your clothing try mixing in different types of materials into your clothing! Pairing a sweater or cardigan with a more business material skirt will up the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but adult feeling. Also using things like crisp white button ups as layering pieces will give you that more mature feel. Nothing screams adult like a little black dress, and lbd can be very casual as well. Paired with more casual footwear and jackets they have a certain level of maturity without being over the top. Also “adults” generally accessorize a lot with every piece being thought out. Maybe pick up a few bracelets and necklaces that are simple, and can be worn interchangeably with multiple outfits. My suggestion is a few different necklaces of different lengths! That’s an important thing to note. Anyway good luck on your fashion journey!
Also, even though I don’t have any real advice I will say don’t be afraid to have a little fun with your professional outfits as well. I feel there is a balance that can be struck between looking professional and adding a fun personal flair to it 😉 you want people to see you as a professional but it’s also good for them to see you as a person at the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but same time, I really admire people who can look professional but still express their individual style with it. Good luck and congrats on getting into graduate school!!! Part of me wanted to go into astrophysics it’s such a cool subject I’m excited for you!!! If you really want to dress older, shop in the misses clothing section instead of the young adult section. Any clothing in the young adult section will instantly give you a more youthful vibe, such as your style of pants and the crop tops. That first outfit is unbelievably classy and adult I think you hit the nail on the head. Btw where did you get the pieces in that outfit??
I like your style, but think a lot of the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but fabrics look cheap and worn. I think this skews the looks towards young fast fashion to me. If it were me I’d invest in some nicer materials whether it’s brand new or second hand. It looks like your clothes are Target/Walmart. If you kept the same style but upped the brands, you’d be golden. I feel like since I’ve bought more elegant, stylized belts my jeans outfits look elevated. I treat my belts as accessories as much as practical items. Check out madewell belts for starters Your outfits seem perfect for a grad student. I’d hold off on getting much before you move. You may want to buy local clothing so that you blend in a little more or is more appropriate for the weather there. You’ll also likely bike, and might want some bike friendly outfits!
Start with more structural tops. Something with collars and try more straight darker jeans or different thicker bottoms. Colour of choices should be whatever you like. The first look is a good start. Good luck! If you want some tips for business wear the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but blogger “extrapetite” has some very good tips with regards to styling and where to purchase workwear that looks both chic and comfortable. She even has guides for stores selling petite ranges, their return policies, etc. As a fellow lover of tucked-in waist-lines, I think you’d love her work outfit posts. Go to the Thrift stores and look for solid colored Talbots’ items. Petite blouse start at size 0. Go to the stores or look on line at their current offerings. They have a history of leaning toward 1960s silhouettes that come across as professional. Keep your personal style. You look like a smart, creative, energetic young woman. The only recommendation I have is to dump the midriff tops. You look great in them but they seem teenager to me. My style is probably very dated; I like modest , minimalist- high quality fabrics, clean lines.
I am getting reports of people complaining about the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but word Sleeze. “Indie Sleeze” is an actual name of fashion from the 00s, much like the term cottage core. It’s not an insult. My official verdict is 80’s workout/2010’s Ke$ha, but rave-ified. Your look is complex and so I cannot think of a name that isn’t. You’re beautiful and look like you have fun with your look! Basic rave fit from the 2000s that seems embarrassing to wear in everyday life. One thing for an event, another to just run this. You’ll be posting on r/blunderyears in a few years. You look like a Sims auto-generated character! I’ve been playing sims a lot lately and in general they lean toward bright colors, bold patterns, colorful hair and piercings. Definitely giving sims vibes. I’m guessing irl this style is called rave/eclectic/essentric with maybe a neo-emo style intertwined as well. Whatever it is, you’re rocking it!

Thank you for answering them!! Was looking for this comment! I love what you did with the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but fishnet top lovely Rave girl for sure. Def a little showy too, so I’d expect other folks (me included) to come over and hit on you I was very “in” to indie sleaze back in the day, this is far from it. This looks like an EDM raver from the 2010s The top half of your outfit is SO CUTE. The pink hair is gorgeous, makes me want to dye mine pink not sure what to call this style but it does sort of remind me of rave Edit: please try some tight black leather pants with the top part of this outfit, I bet it would look snatched af What is covering the butt? Nothing? So much going on with this bold look. I’m overwhelmed. Not current. Reminds me of my electronic music days and going to those festivals. This was late 90s early 2000s. This isn’t candy raver, but reminds me of the scene. No clue but I’m lovin’ it!! However you put so much trust in that skirt!! I wish I could trust my skirts like you do yours haha x
The combo of bipedalism and large brain (head). I believe this is also the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but reason why human babies are a little undercooked at birth compared to our relatives’, if the baby was grown longer in uterus it would not be able to pass, so in that sense, we already sort of evolved to make it easier? (Marsupial “nugget baby growing in pocket” not being an option for us.) A baby pocket would be great. You could peek in there now and then. And when it’s done just pull it out. C’mon, evolution! I’m so pissed we’re not marsupials. Imagine giving birth to a baby the size of your thumb. It’d pop right out. Or if I wanted to do something slightly physical, I could just ask my friend to keep my human joey in her pouch until I’m done. “Here just hold this for a minute.” yeah but then being a marsupial equals forgoing brain capacity. marsupials dont have a corpus callosum, and because of that, they cant evolve into intelligent beings. one reason why marsupial monkeys dont exist.
Dolphins have a particularly small corpus callosum, but are regarded as quite intelligent. Marsupials, generally, have smooth, not wrinkled, brains. the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but corpus callosum is important as it enables the brain to become more advanced in it’s function. from the primitive reptilian brain, the corpus callosum was what connected the mammalian brain together. dolphins have a small corpus, marsupials dont have one altogether. I imagined that like a kangaroo. Some extra skin on your bely.. like a pocket.. it made me feel uncomfortable tbh.. Edit: belly Was listening to a video and the guest said that while there is no knowing how long human babies should be in the womb she estimates that human babies should be born later than 18 months. And because babies were being born earlier and dying that’s how we evolved to needing a father for the development of children.
Idk I have a two week old baby right now and I might be willing to take one for the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but team if it meant they come out sturdier and sleeping through the night! Although of course my first didn’t sleep through the night until she was three so… My 9 months were already hell. Even with a traumatic birth that needed intervention already, it’s a terrifying thought to double it lol Im in. Despite awefull toxicosis last few monthes of pregnancy was best time in my life – all days and all nights just laying in bed watching tv, husband was doing all chores and worked from home, I had all exotic fruits and meals that I could wish, our cats was extra cudly. I think is called “the obstetric dilemma” we gave up larger pelvises and longer gestation period – hence a more developed baby- in order to walk up straight. Also our brains/heads are larger, and if we carried a baby for four trimesters, with our small as hell pelvis, we wouldn’t be able to pass the head, never mind shoulders, through the birth canal (OMG I shudder just thinking)
Basically babies are born about 6-12 weeks earlier compared to other apes. I think that’s why the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but first trimester after a baby is born is so hard, they still need that time to “cook” It’s an evolutionary compromise between the need for the mother to walk upright and the baby to have a big brain. The compromise is an approximate 10% infant/maternal mortality rate and a lot of hassle for the survivors. There is an evolutionary pressure to have the baby stay in the womb as long as possible for the head to be bigger. But that kills them at a higher rate. There is an evolutionarily pressure for the mother to have narrower hips. But that kills them at a higher rate. What we end up with is the compromise and acceptable mortality rate by evolutionary standards.
Yeah, evolution is the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but D-Student of biological adaptations. It doesn’t need to be the best, it just needs to pass. There would be people who rank much lower. But they’re not given the degree. The pass score is a good standard. I am a patient of student physios who work under a supervisor I know well. One of their exams has a 100% minimum to pass. Like legit you can’t get ONE wrong. I would think it was a joke if not for the terrified frazzles students trying their damn best. I’ve been disabled my whole life but I am in awe of the current education system for medical professionals. It’s a tight ship and they’re incredibly smart people! Tbh, I graduated with a 76 where 75 was passing. Then scored a 95 on the registry exam, where 95 was passing. The average, and the median, for my class was 89. And everybody who took the test passed on the first try Think about those poor hyena moms. How in the actual fuck they manage to survive that is mind boggling. D-Student biological adaptations indeed. Then you get A students like the nautilus, who perfected their survival so early on that they’ve been around hundreds of millions of years. Then, another D student, the sea otter, decides holding its breath is basically good enough to be aquatic and wipes the nautilus out everywhere it goes. We don’t all have to survive for it to work. But being conscious beings capable of understanding our own suffering and striving as well as that of others, we feel that we should. We are all precious individual souls and we feel the loss of each other profoundly. And we are also biological creatures subject to the laws of physicality.
Yup, but fucks up our back in the Yes I am old I wanna party like it’s Chicago Bears the super bowl shuffle 1985 signature shirt it is in the first place but process over long term! The spinal cord wasn’t perfectly designed for straight backs! The doctor I see for my back problems put it perfectly – humans are walking around using a clothesline as a flagpole. Evolution doesn’t care if your happy or comfortable. Salmon start decomposing before they even die after spawning. Evolution has no empathy. This is actually not necessarily true. Some research has indicated it might be because the baby develops as long is at can before the mother’s body simply can’t metabolically support it anymore. This article explains it better
