Varley – This is a newer brand to me, but it’s quickly become a favorite. I love this brand for cute activewear that is still functional. Quality is much higher than some of my past workout favorites (Lululemon, Beyond Yoga, Vuori). MM LaFleur – a go-to for slightly boring but reliable workwear. Quality has taken a slight dive in recent years, but I’m not hard on my work clothes, so it’s fine for me. Banana Republic – this is the only brand on my list whose quality has actually increased in recent years. Their rebrand has been great for quality. I mentioned this is another comment, but I think some of their styles are a little too “European colonizer” for my comfort, but their more neutral styles are great. Your “European colonizer” comment is too funny and correct. But what do we expect from a brand called ‘Banana Republic’? Such a weird name choice….

I’m guessing you’re right – the Yes i am old but i saw Rod Stewart on stage signature shirt in addition I really love this term is used so much less frequently now (even in the classroom), which is a good thing? Probably not a good thing, because America is still creating banana republics all over the world. It’s the reason we have so many affordable clothing options. To add on to your “prices are high but the clothing quality reflects that” I will add Ulla Johnson and Farm Rio. Their stuff is expensive! But it’s all gorgeous and well made. The seams are all finished. The tailoring is excellent. The materials are very high quality. You can find their pieces online used and they do have end of season sales. I cannot recommend both brands enough. It’s definitely worth it to only buy one dress a year and have it be gorgeous and high quality to me.
