I’ve been to Hà Giang, Mộc Châu, Sơn La, Lạng Sơn, Sa Pa etc., all around the North on my own rental bike. And these places see very few foreign tourists aside from Hà Giang and Sa Pa. Most tourists will see only Hạ Long, Ninh Bình, and Sa Pa in terms of natural beauty. And they’re honestly overrun. Hà Giang is also on its way to being overrun, or already has been. Haven’t been there in a year. It’s beauty is almost unparalleled in SEA, but the tourist experience leaves much to be desired. The lack of English competency, terrible roads and infrastructure, the amazing amount of people trying to scam your đồng, the chaos, the lack of food hygiene. And honestly to me, the food is mid, nothing spectacular compared to Malaysian and Thai cuisine. But they’re more suited to my Maritime SEA tastebuds. As a regular tourist I wouldn’t enjoy it. But I came in knowing a bit of their culture(I dated a girl from Hà Nội, and another from Sài Gòn in my own country), a bit of the language, and have Indonesian heritage so I’m used to the chaos of Vietnam. But even then Vietnam chaos is a tier above the rest of SEA.

If I didn’t have an actual interest in the Yes I Am A Woman Yes I Drive A Chevrolet Logo No You Cannot Drive It New shirt Additionally,I will love this language, and culture, and the ability to go beyond regular foreign tourist spots, I’d much rather fly off to Thailand or to Indonesia. Tourism is a priority for every country that is worth visiting. It’s not only a source of foreign income but an important factor in the acquisition of soft power in the international scene. I’m not a sexpat. I hate scams anytime anywhere. Reasonable locals shared their experiences with me. They didn’t blame the victims You’re going to experience this where ever you go. It just seems more prevalent in Vietnam, especially the old quarters. Places like Korea or Japan just have these hustler more hidden. Keep in mind there are shitty people where ever you go and learn to recognize the bad stuff. Also everything is very cheap, Im not sure where you are from but you can always let it go. I know it could just be your principals but Im not gonna stress over the little money they take, unless its like big money. You could also move hotels, check out the shopping malls like Aion, Lotte Tower, and etc. I have only been to the old quarters once and never went back lol Besides Japan, it’s the only other country I fell in love with during my travels. The food, culture, history, and the people are all amazing. Im probably biased though cause I grew up with Vietnamese people and my girlfriend is Vietnamese :shrug:
