Globalization is what ruined the present generation’s chances – maybe politicians DID run for office on “Let’s shut down all U.S. manufacturing!” But all the old people I’ve met said ‘globalization’ was a shitty deal – maybe their view from the food pantry line is skewed or out of step here(?) Go and read any one of the the thousand, fifteen paragraph long, masturbatory articles they wrote about themselves, about how they’re the greatest generation, and how all other generations after them are nothing but lazy bums who don’t know how to do anything right. I don’t have a problem with the generation as a whole. But, it’s incredibly frustrating working with them when they refuse to learn modern technology. It’s not that they can’t learn, they just think they (and everyone else) should do things their way. People who judge boomers to the extent where it’s a derogatory term don’t understand that they were revolutionary for their time. They were raised by “the silent generation” and were radical in comparison to their parents. Change takes time and it’s subtle. You really need to study history to understand the nuances of generational time and experiences.

I have a hunch you didn’t really think your statement through before you made it. Stupidity? Really? That’s your answer? Cool. There is clear evidence that the Boomer generation benefitted from unprecedented economic growth. They were able to get mortgages, car loans, even lines of credit from banks with way fewer restrictions than what we have today. They had WAY more buying power with their wages, and were able to enter the middle class far easier and earlier than later generations. They had the audacity to both complain about the older generations holding on to power and jobs, yet have done everything in their power to hold their position in the job market and keep political influence. As a group, boomers have consistently voted for politicians that have removed every single benefit that allowed them to succeed to prevent future generations from even thinking about the American dream.
