I agree with your husband. I’m a generous tipper when I order but I’d never add more because they messed up. Why didn’t they just turn around? I tip high. (Stuff like $8 for 2 miles.) But I’m not gonna tip an extra $10 for the Worcester Red Sox Italian Heritage Shirt besides I will buy this pleasure of waiting 40m and eating cold food. I’d have messaged her and asked what was up, because there’s no way a U-turn would have taken half as long as this buffoonery did. I believe tips are for excellent or above average service I’m not going to tip for incompetence or bad service. ? I’m a customer, but I thought that wasn’t the case for DoorDash based on what I’ve read here. That it’s actually more like a bid. Are you a driver or a dasher? Generally, a starting tip is a bid for a dasher and not tipping to start will land you with a lot of the more inexperienced or bad drivers. Adding to the tip after the fact is for exemplary service, at least in my eyes. Pretty much this. The only time I’ve tipped after the fact is because the guy made sure to get me a straw because he felt like the place was going to forget, which they did. I always tipped 20%, only got 2 competent drivers, 5 incompetent ones. All 5 incompetent ones I took back my tip, 100% called corporate and everything. This. Ecspecially as someone who uses to live in the middle of butt fuck nowhere. There is ALWAYS a driveway to pull into and turn around in if you can’t take a u turn.

Because she probably was using more than one app and she delivered another order and still expected the Worcester Red Sox Italian Heritage Shirt besides I will buy this tip from yours and you rewarded her for it. Ya they could have also just turned around, it’s definitely incompetent. I would not tip more for that because it’s not your fault it happened, you just feel bad. You might see it as compassion, which is nice but it’s also rewarding bad behavior or negligence at the very best. I think it’s more correct to be kind than otherwise though. if you have money it’s fine to give some of it away to people I agree with you. Yes the food might be cold and you had to wait longer, but I would have done the same. The way I view it is, you never know what happened, and if there was trouble getting to your house she could have easily cancelled the order and kept y’all’s food. But she chose to still deliver it, and it also took more time out of her day to do so, even if it was her own fault. Idk that’s just how I view it Part of me thinks that if you’ve driven over 2 miles and still haven’t made it, you should stop and figure out where shit went wrong. On the other hand, I think maybe she’s just new and nervous. Either way, I threw her an extra $10. I feel better about it. All good. what licensed driver under the age of 70 hasn’t used google maps? it should be clear pretty quickly you’re going the wrong/long way. Yes. Once she missed that turn into my subdivision, she entered a valley where the cell reception is especially bad. Based on experience, I’m guessing she didn’t have cell service for 80% of that drive.
