And the 55 hours per week is during your whole summer months until end of the year. Kinda sucks. I think I’d rather have the lesser with better work/life balance as long as you’re not super far into debt. Some things to consider. Do you value money more or time to yourself and with your family? Would the 60+ hour work weeks last forever or just a couple years as you rev up the business? I work in the construction industry myself and my dad owns a contracting company and I feel like once you’re in a good position with the business you can gain back that work life balance pretty easily. BUT the job comes with extremely high stress and risk. It’s honestly a nightmare and I hate it. Do you have any experience in the construction industry? You gotta really love to be in it for the long run. It is honestly a difficult industry to be in. Really consider the stress level, odd hours, quarters with huge losses (very common in construction), there is a lot of risk, but the pros are good too: good money, work can be rewarding, you build strong relationships with other contractors and guarantee consistent work. Really consider the pros and cons here. It seems like you earn well in your current job and still have room to grow. I would take a nice work life balance and less stress over more money and losing sleep any day. By the way I know I’m injecting my own personal experience into this, but I now work for a national construction company and there’s still a lot of bullshit that comes with the territory. I hate it and am looking for an out. But you might love it. Just consider all of this before you take the plunge. Consider what you value and if the extra money would really change your life quality/future or not. Good luck and whatever you decide on I hope you succeed!

I’m in the first group work from home and have great benefits. My brother is in the second group working 60+ hour weeks as an insurance adjuster on a deployment away from his home. You take the 160 10 times out of 10 and leverage that into even more money when you find a better job in 3 years which fixes you work life balance. Are you make 95 with the new offer being 110? You keep the 95. I know you think your connection makes you 200 easy but I can pretty much promise you it won’t be. If you 200 is more than a 25% raise the odds of you ever making it there with 1 company are pretty low regardless of who you know. 95 to 110 is a nice bump but not life changing money.
