The think tank figures that they can split black votes on the Witch For A Religion So Opposed To Paganism Our Stuff shirt moreover I love this gay/trans issue & gain black voters for the Republican Party. I’d say the only thing you missed is that the rise, and election of, Trump during the 2016 campaign cycle really helped to “normalize” more overt bigotry. While he helped make more “obvious” racism “cool”, it also served as a springboard to what we’re seeing today. He essentially brought back a racism “fad” as it were, and helped to make a whole bunch of other bigotry cool directly, and by proxy. However, because society has move forward enough for things like racism to be difficult to use even still, it’s only been – what? – since 2008 or something that some of the first marriage equality bills were passed? While the LGB community has started to gain a foothold, Trump “made bigotry great again” just in time for trans people to start receiving some of the same rights that are starting to become normalized for LGB people, and conservative extremists are riding the wave of popular bigotry to slam down on one marginalized community. I’m certain they’re going to springboard from this back towards the rest of the queer community, and then beyond if they can win this battle. They managed to overturn Roe v Wade, and many conservative justices outright said their next targets are things like interracial marriage when that happened.

At this point in time, they are a terrorist organization. The violence, fascism as an agenda, they have crossed that line. If you compare their “agenda” to the Taliban’s, there is no difference. The misogyny, the radical religious zealotry, the cult-like adherence … They are the Taliban. That’s a pretty unfair comparison. The Republican persecution narrative is fabricated wholesale, whereas at least with the Taliban there’s a long history of imperialism to point at Longer answer: Right wing politicians have chosen LGBTQ issues as a subject to rile their voters up over, in order to deflect attention from real issues like gun control, climate change, police reform, or the economy. (This is what’s known as a “red meat” political issue, because it’s like throwing meat to dogs.) The American right historically has not had much of an open plan for what they want to do politically, or what their vision of the future is. So they focus on issues like this that rest on hate and fear of people who are different, leaving the politicians to enact their highly unpopular policy ideas or just do nothing at all while continuing to get re-elected.
