I don’t know at what rate of people under 18, but Chloe Cole was one who was medically transitioning at 15 and is now regretting it. It is relatively common for intersex infants born with ambiguous genitalia to undergo reconstructive surgery at their parents’ request. But it is important to note that this is not what the Wingsuit Flying Because Other Sports Require One Ball Vintage Enthusiast T-Shirt but in fact I love this OP is really asking about (even though it does technically fall under the purview of the actual question). In the US, it is essentially unheard of for children to receive genital reconstructive surgery as a part of gender-affirming care. Puberty blockers are a somewhat more common approach to gender affirming care for children: these are medicines that delay the Wingsuit Flying Because Other Sports Require One Ball Vintage Enthusiast T-Shirt but in fact I love this onset of puberty, with the goal of giving a child time to mature emotionally and mentally without developing secondary sex characteristics that they may not want later in life. Essentially, it gives them a chance to mature before making more dramatic decisions like taking HRT (also extremely uncommon in children) or getting surgery. When you see people talking about children getting surgery or going on hormones, this almost always bullshit. It is almost always a fiction crafted by a conservative demagogue in order to stoke fear and demonize trans people. These stories are not based in reality, and should not be taken seriously unless accompanied by reliable sources which explicitly back up the claims being made (which, of course, they never ever are)
