Way Out West, 2014 Now that the Wine The Glue Holding This 2020 Shitshow Together Humor Gift shirt and I love this coronavirus pandemic has all but canceled our summer, I recently found myself googling each festival I’d been to in the past—Osheaga in Montreal; AMF in Amsterdam; Afropunk, Governors Ball, and Panorama in New York—as well as the ones still on my bucket list: Glastonbury, Coachella, and Openair Frauenfeld in Switzerland, to name a few. Some have been canceled and rescheduled, like Coachella, which has been moved to October 2020. Others, like Afropunk’s Paris festival, have been pushed to 2021.

At the Wine The Glue Holding This 2020 Shitshow Together Humor Gift shirt and I love this sight of every cancellation, my hope for knocking each one off my list gets a bit bruised. I’m not sure why I bothered checking; in fact, I’m surprised I gave it any thought at all. Like many of us, my mind has been preoccupied with more important things. I am writing this from my childhood home in New Jersey, where I came one month ago to be with my mother, one of our nation’s health care workers, a fierce, inspiring nurse, who is fighting for our future every day. Still, in the midst of so much fear and anxiety, my urge to dance fearlessly under the stars with the people I love is stronger than ever.
