Another CNN article, from 2021, shows productivity outpacing the minimum wage.Adjusted, “half our politicians” saw the minimum wage increase from $7 to $12 an hour between the time the entered the work force and into their late twenties. In the last 15 years, adjusted, it peaked at $9 but has dropped back to $7.25. I think it’s more so that they are deep in the pockets of companies who have thousands of minimum wage employees and a vested interest in that rate staying as low as possible. They aren’t stupid, they’re fucking greedy. My Oma wants me to get married before I have a kid. Okay, Oma, but you gotta pay the medical bills because while we both make a little over minimum wage helping my partners family, we do not have health insurance, so I need state insurance. While I would LOVE to be able to follow in her and my mothers footsteps, it’s one or the other. I know people may judge me for it, and I do feel some shame, but I know that it’s the the least risky way finically and my child deserves a better life than I had and I’m not risking financial security over doing it ‘correct way’. its almost impossible to live off of $15 an hour now. if you think landlords and management companies wont get greedy, or make up for paying their employees more by raising your rent…………

I think it should be fair that anyone who wants to be in a position that heavily impacts the Willie Mays 24 Shirt besides I will buy this rest of our lives, they need to live like a normal person for at least 2 years. And the other half don’t even understand how renting works – Anything they ever wanted was bought for them by mommy and daddy. I want to know how is the living cost in USA is so expensive while you have one of the strongest economy in the world? I’m not American. We have the strongest economy because it was built on the backs of the silent generation, who made it possible for the middle class to exist through hard work and self-sacrifice on their part. Their children, the boomers, inherited that growing economy, benefited from it, and then voted en masse for Ronnie Ray-Gun to destroy it through “trickle-down” economics; to whit, “give everything we tax from the middle class to the rich and then the rich will buy stuff and the middle class will somehow get even more back”. Yes, the boomers were that fucking stupid to believe in that. Now those same boomers refuse to do anything to help their progeny who are suffocating under the economic debasement they inherited. Instead they call us lazy and entitled and tell us to pray more in Church and everything will get better.
