Reminds me of another social media site that has had a much hated redesign that makes it easier to mislead and advertise to users… As someone who was on tumblr before and after Yahoo’s acquisition, it wasn’t the Will Compton San Francisco 49ers Cm Stud shirt Furthermore, I will do this banning of porn. That didn’t happen until 2018. The ship was sinking long before that. If you look at actions Reddit has taken over the past few years it was a lot like that only sped up. Primarily, a focus on ad revenue over user experience. Changing how posts were promoted, changing what incentivized posting, increasing ads and monetization schemes. Bottom line, it went from a more indie culture to a corporate culture, and they somehow were able to spread that so well that thousands of users abandoned the platform.

Obviously the Will Compton San Francisco 49ers Cm Stud shirt Furthermore, I will do this growth of other social media options helped, but Yahoo made tumblr a less fun place to be and people found other outlets. I still can’t believe they prioritized promoting home insurance in the ads. Like sir do you know where you are? When tumblr started it attracted a large crowd of teen and twenty-something, largely liberal creative-types. Art, photography, poetry, music, etc. Not the type of people who own a home or could afford to own a home. I don’t know the demographics now but I’m pretty sure it’s much more teen-oriented. Lots of nerd pop culture, fanfic, funny musings on various tv or movie lore, that kind of thing. I posted so much poetry that I wrote when I was struggling with the desire to live… They messed up the formatting of it at some point during one of their updates, and I just drifted away. I haven’t ever found another place I could post about it. Sometimes, I wish I could again, but I still don’t feel like Reddit is a good place for it, so I leave it as notes in my phone and poorly scrawled phrases in notebooks I can barely bear to drag out anymore. I lost a part of my home when they destroyed Tumblr and it still hurts. The stereotype of a Tumblr user, especially at the time, was a 14 year old queer disabled person who probably wouldn’t ever be able to experience home ownership in their life, much less at the current moment.
