When was the Why Didn’t The Chicken Cross The Road, Quitman Georgia T-Shirt and I will buy this last time Obama was on CNN or MSNBC? How many times did he show up unannounced or in regular intervals on Rachel Maddow? So I guess you could say that Republicans think that Democrats also have something similar to their propaganda network. Perhaps. I can’t speak for them. What I can tell you is more likely is that they use that statement as a means of deflection and bad faith argument. Nuance is the albatross around the neck of progressive politicians. Nuanced positions are easy to dispel with simple ‘truths’. It’s harder to say “despite domestic oil production at the same level as 2019 gas prices are about 90 cents higher. There are many factors such as demand, refinery outputs that are dependent on a multitude of factors including supply chains that are still reeling from a pandemic. Not to mention the fact that BP just posted an almost 14 billion dollar profit this year” on a sticker and put it next to the gas prices. You could! Oh I’m sure you could. But how effective is it? Imagine thinking universities, the collective hubs of education and knowledge, are leftist propaganda centers. I doubt some of these people would be able to pass the red dot test. Well, when Conservative ideology is now promoting ignorance as a goal, then of course universities are effectively “leftist”. I like to think it’s mostly a result of reading, understanding how to identify bias (both by the source, and yourself), and general critical thinking skills.

Democrats tend to be more educated Every now and again I’ll run into someone who complains that of course I’m liberal because I got brainwashed in college. My favorite professor in undergrad was a conservative dude in the Why Didn’t The Chicken Cross The Road, Quitman Georgia T-Shirt and I will buy this philosophy department. He’s the one who really grounded me in thinking critically and dissecting arguments. I went on to practically minor in philosophy on his courses alone. The only reason I know his politics, by the way, is because a bible thumper in his philosophy of religion course accused him of teaching lefty talking points about religion, so he offered to bring in his voting record to prove he wasn’t left wing. He’s one of a whopping three college professors I’ve had whose politics came up in the classroom, and the only one who ever directly challenged a student over it. Dr. P, if you’re out there somewhere, just know that many people curse you and your liberal indoctrinating ways xD
