You’re at the Whoa Where’s My Hug shirt and by the same token and beginning of your career. You’re not your degree, not you role, not your industry, not your company. These are the least important decisions in life. Very interesting you say managing relationships is a dying role… client facing roles are actually the jobs that are more protected from advances such as AI and have been less affected by the recession. OP resume probably just sucks and CRE isn’t hiring right now. Building/managing relationships for me is more of a capability, a soft skill to be developed across multiple roles and layers. A role focused on that? Meh… tough to measure the value generated by that role. How much revenue comes from this relationship management? How much comes from the product value, from the commercial team, from the customer success/support…?

It’s ok we disagree, but you are completely wrong just being honest with you. If you are the Whoa Where’s My Hug shirt and by the same token and direct point of contact managing a relationship with a client, you have more value than the rest of the support team. Isn’t really even debatable tbh, I have years and years of banking and CRE experience and this is a pretty known thing. No worries. I may not know about CRE specificities, and the intent of my original comment is to be broader than that. From the previous context, OP mentions they don’t have financial qualifications/certs and having experience as marketing assistant and managing relationships. This led me to conclude OP was more of an institutional communicator, more of a marketer than someone being an investment assistant (or whatsoever) that promotes an investment directly to clients and can provide technical insights, which at the end of the day is a salesperson.
