Maybe not exactly an answer to your query — BUT — the Whiskey Steak Guns & Freedom American Flag T-Shirt but in fact I love this title of your post reminded me of a blog post I attempted to ramble my way thru a couple years ago called ‘Buddhism vs Capitalism’… so, if interested in reading some ‘short story long’ related thoughts on how secular Buddhist logic/rationale seems well equipped for the individual/collective work needed for deprogramming ourselves from our current late stage colonial/imperial consumer capitalism mindsets that A LOT of people are so subconsciously quick to knee-jerk defend, please feel free to click over and give that blahg post a gander. For the ‘long story short’ answer… I think all you can do is try to live your life in a way that shows that you practice what you preach (and, as you get more confident in your own practice & the more you start experiencing the wisdom of your practice for yourself, you start ‘preaching’ a whole lot less because your practice starts speaking for itself thru your actions/reactions/interactions & you become less concerned with needing others to agree with you in order to know what feels like truth to your direct experience of life).

Because, as far as I’ve got things figured, even though the Whiskey Steak Guns & Freedom American Flag T-Shirt but in fact I love this goal in life is achieving ‘contentment’ (ie. the truly rich person is the one who is content with what they already have) — the reality is that our society is setup around requiring money to meet our basic needs (and there’s no lasting contentment or happiness if you are struggling to meet your basic needs, which a lot of people are or feel they could be with one bad luck break… which is why a good chunk of people will continue to see ‘money’ as being more vital to happiness than ‘mindfulness’, no matter how good of a comeback/meme you’ve got ready in your back pocket). So I’d say to just keep working on your own mindful path and don’t get too hung up on how to convince other people into thinking similarly to you — which is not to say ‘avoid having those conversations with others’ (after all, as they say in the spiritual game “we work on ourselves so we can be of use to others”), but more… if you’re going to jump into a comments section on the internet, especially with topics like ‘capitalism’, make sure to do so extra mindfully 🙂
