Say if we 100% cut ties with USA and France and Japan, that will have a dent in their economies, but will not crash it. But our economy will crash. That makes us “dependent” on them. Same for China, their economy will crash if we cut them off, but their govt is authoritarian so it’s all okay. France is doing a business deal, plain and simple. It bidded against multiple nations to bag the deal and the Party used it in their polls to emphasize the income they are bringing.
