A cop can absolutely yank off whatever face covering he/she wants. It may be illegal, but there will be virtually no consequences for the Whale Whale Whale What Do We Have Here Sea Animal Underwater T-Shirt but in fact I love this offending officer, so they don’t care. “make you” take it off? is this a search? I’ve not consented to any search. How they gonna “make you” without probable cause? Pretty sure even people with a mask on have a 4th amendment right. It should be noted Gizmodo was not able to independently confirm any cases of this technique being used by law enforcement in any known arrests, so far. This happened to me just a month or two ago! At the end of the stop he holds up some device and announced he is taking a picture of me and I quickly put my hands over my face and asked if I could decline, and he got a little mad and said no. I protested a little more and he tells me he will be right back, goes to his squad car, then comes back and lets me go without getting the photo. I doubt in that half second before I put my hands in front of my face he was able to get a photo, but I’m considering doing an FOIA request to find out.

Thank you, I asked for all the Whale Whale Whale What Do We Have Here Sea Animal Underwater T-Shirt but in fact I love this documents/photos/video from my stop and for the details surrounding the camera project. We’ll see what they consider responsive within 10 days. It has a tiny part near the end where it says you basically can’t do shit besides say that you don’t consent and it says upfront that that probably won’t mean shit to the cop in the moment Either you vote for the party that gives police riot gear with gummisticks, so they can break your kneecaps and scan your face so get more information to control people… If you do happen to find yourself in the undesirable position of having a police officer shove a smartphone camera in your face, there are several things you can do. Wessler said drivers caught in that situation have the right to verbally tell an officer that they do not consent to have their biometrics (in this case, their face scan) collected. That might not mean shit to an officer at the moment, but Wessler said it could help down the line for people trying to litigate over their rights. People also have the legal right to record a police officer with their own phone which, in some cases, could deter police from crossing the line into scanning your face.
