I’ve always had dogs so that’s my reference, but in a pack it’s normal behaviour to display displeasure with growling and eventually snapping at a puppy. Yes! I was an ER nurse for 15 years before I had my first baby. I have seen so many horrible dog bites to kids. My anxiety was super high after having a baby. We gave our dog to my parents when my baby became mobile. My anxiety could not tolerate it. Even 3 years later I don’t like my daughter to be near dogs especially touch them. I was very careful with my cat and my baby. I never let them be alone together. When the baby was small, the cat avoided her. But when baby was… maybe 2 years? Then the cat seemed to decide baby was big enough to be raised properly. Cat let baby pet her and didn’t move away like before. But if baby was too rough, the cat would grab the hand or arm with her teeth! It looked terible and scared both me and baby. But there was no bite. Only “information”: I don’t like what you just did! Nah, we’ve had lot of pets and all of my kids grew up with them since they were babies, and let me tell you that dogs are very gentle with them. I’m having my first baby in a few months and have two dogs. I’ve got no worries at all. My dogs are incredibly soft and loving and baby won’t be left alone with them at any point for months and months. And even when that time comes it’ll be for seconds if anything. I’m going to introduce them slowly and calmly and have lots of faith in them adapting to their new friend in no time. I’ve got a cat. The cat was again very respectful – I distinctly remember one time the baby caught her tail, I went over quickly to intervene, and the cat turned and bit me, hard. She knew she couldn’t hurt the baby, but she knew whose fault it really was.
When my daughter got bigger, she got scratched sometimes. She gets scratched sometimes. If anything I’m teaching him to be gentle with her. We got our house refinanced a couple of days after I got home from the hospital and the guy from the bank was actually the only person she’s ever nipped at. Having a new baby in the house probably made her more protective. Me, no, but my daughter’s mother was nervous about our cat. Had plans to keep cat away. As it turned out the cat was zero issues, she was old and while friendly she wasn’t all.over our daughter like we thought.
Animals seem to instinctively know that babies are fragile and delicate. And many animals seem to understand their owner is pregnant so they know a baby is coming. Do you know your pets? Are they aggressive and unpredictable now? Did you train them? Do you plan to leave them alone together? Do you plan to supervise and teach your child how to interact with animals? You know your pet best. Babies and pets are both predictable, in my opinion. Babies cry. Babies pull/grasp ( it’s literally a reflex)… but like… are you going to let it do that alone in your dogs face? No. You’re probably good. Again… pets are predictable, too. Ears back, fur up, growing, hissing, etc. are all signs your animal is uncomfortable. I’ve got a cat and a German shepherd. GSD is 18 months old and while she’s been around my older children since she was 8 weeks old, she’s never been around a baby. Then there’s the theory that nothing happens. We cease to exist. That’s also hell, but out of the other two stories I’ve heard. The best outcome.
We have really good reasons to conclude that there is no “after” death, you cease to be, yet people are still still make up afterlives and souls and ghosts and spirits because it makes them feel special or something. They are wild unfounded speculations. I do not think so. I’m not confident a lot of people would be able to handle there is no sort of life after death, it is just as before you were born.. nothing.
