Surprisingly, pay depends on union. In my union, we get paid for every hour we work. Apparently for another union, they always get paid just the We Can Leave The Christmas Lights Up &39;Til January Christmas T-Shirt Besides,I will do this 8hrs or 12hr (depending on what type of shift you have) which seems stupid to me. I used to have a job where I was on-call overnights and one year I happened to have the “fall back” weekend. I got a call about a potential emergency I needed to respond to just before the clocks changed and when I showed up ten minutes later the time change had happened. It looked like I was a time traveler in the incident report. We never get payed for that hour. I work nightshifts at a hospital and I worked the night now when the clock went an hour back. No one in my country who works with health care gets payed that hour. No one. The newspapers always makes an article about it a couple of days before, interviewing nurses and doctors who are suppose to work that night, and how furious they are that they have to work for free. The explanation we get is always the same: those who work when the clock goes back are the same who works when the clock goes ahead, so it evens out. Which is complete BS, it is never the same people in the 8 years I have worked in health care. So if you are lucky enough to work the night when the clock goes one hour ahead they don’t deduct one hour from your salary. But it still isn’t fair to all those who work an hour free.

I’ve worked 3rd (graveyard) shift since 2013. Here, we get the We Can Leave The Christmas Lights Up &39;Til January Christmas T-Shirt Besides,I will do this option to leave an hour “early” after working our shift duration, or we can stay the extra hour. I remember the first time I was mandated at a hospital I worked at and I experienced this for the first time, I was pissed. I was so exhausted and that extra unpaid hour killed me. You work the extra hour for no pay usually iirc but then when they go forward if you’re still employed and working that night, you get it back. Except that night you’re usually expected to get all your work done an hour faster. I worked shift work for 5 years as part of rotating teams, working 12hr shifts. Better teams, (mine own included) would arrange to split the difference. The day shift and night would both work 12.5hrs shifts.
