True, it’s just that I spend a lot of time travelling back and forth between Australian and vietnam, and I always find the Vote Like Your Daughter’s Rights Depend On It T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this major cities to be a drag, the major cities to me are more like a battleground for the locals to earn money or get an education. Not such a great place if you wanna relax and explore a country. Most construction will happen at night since police prohibit large transportation by day so sleeping with noise is a norm. And for the scam part, people in professional tourism business is honest but the vendors (both shop and street market) are not. They prey hard upon tourist and local tourist is not exception. Well you experienced the worst of it in the north. Da nang was the most chilled, and we didn’t get scammed. Locals know it’s a tourist destination, so they are extra nice and cautious. But 1 month in Da Nang is a over kill. There’s something called a tourism police in vietnam. Anytime you bring that up local gets scared because fines are harder than the local police which you can pay off with bribes. You will get scamed majorly in the big cities. To calculate money easy to usd. 40000 take away 4 digits = 4 divide by 2 = $2 give or take a few cents off.

Da Nang is much more low key that most other large cities in the Vote Like Your Daughter’s Rights Depend On It T-Shirt Apart from…,I will love this country, but the things you’re having issues with are everywhere in Vietnam. If you’ planing on going to HCM as well you’re going to face exactly the same issues. i would recommend Hoi An over Da Nang. It’s way smaller and outside of the “walking street” you have basically no street vendors . But i feel you. I came from Thailand to vietnam , here since 3 weeks now, and it’s will with alll the scammers here. Feels a bit like Bali to me, my personal hell on earth. Definetly do Danang. From there you can go to Hoian (excellent quiet city) and Hue. All touristy areas have scammy vendors. Just say no thanks. Ive been in Hanoi for 7 years. Not an issue outside of the OQ. Ok, off to get my $3 haircut, shave and wash. Good luck
