Governments have done really dumb things regarding e-scooters, particularly. Here in D.C., you’re limited to 10mph, which is ridiculous. A non-electric bike beats that easily, yet no one is speed-capping bicycles or e-bikes. (We have Lime bikes and our version of Boris Bikes, too.) To me, that is a safety hazard. Why would being able to park these bikes anywhere be a nice thing? You have to step over them. No space for strollers, wheelchairs or the visually impaired Never seen those covering entire pavement corners in the city or on the pavement directly in front of my door. Haven’t seen the wind blow a car over either. Cars need to be reduced and I hope private ones can get banned in the city at some point soon or at least petrol ones, but that doesn’t mean the current plans or solutions don’t need some tinkering.
