Detroit. Seriously. We have some amazing Art Deco architecture from the Vintage Henry Rollins American singer writer spoken word artist actor comedian T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this city’s heyday. The Motown Museum is the best $10 you will ever spend at a museum. The Detroit Institute of Arts has an surprisingly good collection. We have neighborhoods that are recently gentrified with upscale condos and a snazzy Whole Food store where armed guards keep watch at the door. And, walking distance away, we have neighborhoods where most of the buildings are boarded, grass grows through the cracks in the sidewalk and homeless people sleep on the benches. An odd mixture of what once was, what is and what could be. But the arrival of the package holiday to Europe and a lack of investment in these towns meant that the appeal of spending a few days by the seaside eating chips and watching Punch & Judy just didn’t compete with a cheaper trip to all inclusive resorts in Spain, Portugal, or Greece.

I lean towards Swanage. Still got a fun arcade, some pubs with a great range, some nice restaurants and a wine bar, good history to spend a little bit of time exploring, a steam train to Corfe Castle, and tons of great walks and hikes to set out along. Old Harry Rocks in particular is a delightful stroll along the Vintage Henry Rollins American singer writer spoken word artist actor comedian T-Shirt Furthermore, I will do this cliffs and hills. When I was young my parents used take the ferry from Dublin and drive to Devon. Theres so many faded glory destinations there such as Torquay, St.Ives. I suggested it to my SO we should roadtrip to Torquay the so called “English Riviera” but he says its cheaper and nicer to spend €600 on a fancy trip to Portugal or Malta Neither Torquay nor St Ives are faded. They’re very much thriving and St Ives in particular is beautiful. I think there are better examples of faded seaside towns than those two.
