Ugh – my mom taught in a more “urban” high school for about 30 years. She was the Vintage eat sleep watch bl repeat classic shirt Furthermore, I will do this “banker” for so many of her students. These kids were too young to open their own bank accounts, but if they had an account with their “parents” as joint owners or gave them the money, it was gone, usually on beer and cigarettes, or spent on rent/utilities because the parents spent THEIR money on beer and cigarettes. SMH. So many of these kids just wanted to get OUT after high school and saving money was the only way to do that. She would literally keep the money in envelopes with the kids’ name in a drawer in her bedroom. It was crazy, especially to me as a younger kid because I can’t imagine the day my parents would STEAL my money. She did a lot of those kids a REAL service. Sad, but true. I’m glad these kids has someone in their lives that they could trust.

My pops made me start paying rent when I turned 18 nothing big something like $100 a month. I got mad thinking it sucked and started paying him. Year later when I’m moving out to an apartment with my sis he hands it back saying he didn’t want me spending it on dumb stuff and should help with my deposit/essentials. This is the Vintage eat sleep watch bl repeat classic shirt Furthermore, I will do this mark of a trashy parent. It’s stealing from your kids, plain and simple. Just because the kid doesn’t have bills to pay doesn’t mean they don’t really value that money. Even ten bucks is a lot of candy for them, or that much closer to getting a game they want. My grandpa left me $20,000 in his will when I was 12. My parents said I would be irresponsible with it so I couldn’t have it until I turned 18. I turn 35 this year and I never saw that money. Apparently it was the family’s money, not my money, and they needed it to put a down payment on the house they built when I was 14. They started charging me $250/month rent the day I turned 18. If I put my $20,000 inheritance down towards the house I don’t think I should have had to pay rent at all, but who’s keeping score. Point is, I got scammed and there’s nothing I can do about it. All of the money that people have given my son has gone straight into his bank account, which is under his name. I only wish my mother had done the same for me.
