Bit of a different take: I had a girl in uni who so desperately wanted to be me that she dyed her hair all the Up The Coasters Shirt Apart from…,I will love this same colours as me two days after I dyed it and wore the same outfit as me the day after I’d worn it. She listened to the same bands as me and had all the same favourite songs as me. She even changed how she spelt the short version of her name to be more similar to mine (she started to use an i instead of a y…think Dotti instead of Dotty or Lani instead of Laney) She was a sweet enough girl and so we were friendly with one another and I’d invite her round with the rest of the friend group. Anyways, last year (eight years out of uni) we all went to a hen do and the drinking games began. We started sharing stories and she told us of a time she dragged a guy called Jamie out to the bushes on our campus, confused her love to him and erm…”made out” with him. I was so confused as I had done this with Jamie not her, and so I drunkenly called her out. Then she sheepishly admitted the she knew I had done this and so she attempted the exact same thing the following year but then stated that there was no “making out” as he rejected her.

Poor Jamie. He has a dim memory of some girl dragging him off and sticking her tongue down his throat. The next year, a different girl, but with the Up The Coasters Shirt Apart from…,I will love this same hair and clothes, tries to do it again. He tells this story, and no one believes him. He’s slowly desending into madness trying to figure out if it was real. I’ve stolen someone else’s before. We were at dinner and we’d had a little wine. I started telling this story of how me and my wife complained about the mattresses in a hotel, only for my wife to interrupt me, telling everyone at the table very loudly that it wasn’t us, it was her friend, who’d told us a few weeks beforehand. I was like, “Oh yeah” hahaha There was a woman at an old workplace that used to do this both to me and other people. She was on the autistic spectrum so I put it down to her not knowing what to do in group social situations. She was otherwise kind and pleasant, but sometimes she would copy what I did or she would repeat an anecdote to me that I knew from someone else in the office (a couple of times me and this woman had both been present when the original storyteller told everyone the original story, and later she would repeat it as her own)
