I was able to give freely, love better, and was a better person. If I married at 23 I am not sure I would feel the same. If you have been betrayed though (and there’s more ways to do that besides infidelity), it’s harder (probably impossible) to ever completely trust someone again (how do you know another person won’t do the same thing? or betray you in a different way?).

Personally, I’d never do it again (I tried twice, 18 years each, and I feel I really went full support both times, different betrayals). But we still can finish each other’s sentences, we never argue about how to spend our money, how to raise our kids, how we live our lives. After one not so great experience I don’t think I’m cut out for it. Like I don’t have the patience, compassion or emotional capacity for a marriage. I’m not sure I’ll ever want to live with anyone again and definitely never marry. I’m only 32 but don’t feel like I’m willing to give that much, since in my experience no one will do that for me. I focus on other things and enjoy my safe space home that I decorate however I want.
