Already said, but that’s insubordination, your job description says you can and will be cross trained to fill in other roles and job duties of other departments as required. I knew plenty of register trained cap2 associates from them being pulled and forced to ring up customers. Multiple people including my brother and his girlfriend filed grievances because she was garbage (management was pretty bad too) and they all got paid. Our department heads are thrilled to have T&A code our hours to the other departments because it sheds hours off their respective department’s labor budget. However, our contract doesn’t stipulate different rates of pay for working in other departments so the associates maintain their same rate of pay. I do it depending on the day, I work seasonal, but I have to get the paint counter when it oaoges, cover sporting goods when they benediction breaks, do the occasional fishing license, cover electronics when it’s sshort staffed, run up front to cashier when line’s are long, get told to zone any department in the store, help ogp when they are burning.
