I’m honestly embarrassed to say I never heard Sweet Child O’ Mine until 2006. But to be fair, I was in middle school at that time. I got pretty damn good at it while in the Uglyer Dog Be Jolly With A Rough Ugly Christmas T-Shirt it is in the first place but Marines and one night there was a SSgt was on duty watching me and a bunch of people play in the lounge and he said, “Cool. Can you do that on a real guitar, though?” which got me wishing I could. Shortly after that I went to the Philippines and there was a classical guitar on the base we were living on so I picked it up and now I’ve been playing guitar for around 12 years and I love it! And honestly the games made tremolo picking and playing with both hands feel much easier on the real guitar for me. I couldn’t play I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL and I was yelling at my friend “Give me a guitar, I can play it in a real guitar, it’s easy as shit… Fuck it” …and then my friend played some shred guitar song with the XBox guitar and I was “Well, that looks easier on the toy guitar”

As a black child whose mother wouldn’t let me watch mtv or vh1 I had never heard really any white music. My friend had rock band and it completely opened me to so much new different music than what I knew. I find it funny looking back that I rebelled by listening to Bon Jovi when most kids do by listening to like Punk music or something I really like playing Beat Saber in VR but most of the Uglyer Dog Be Jolly With A Rough Ugly Christmas T-Shirt it is in the first place but songs are trash IMO – I’ve found a few ones I’m okay with, and I bought a DLC for a group I actually like….but most of the music is intolerable modern rap trash and electronica (ducks for cover). I would be so happy if there was some classic rock or even some pop music. Having said that, I’m a notoriously fussy old fart with very fixed opinions about music and I’m aware I’m difficult to please in this area. Counterpoint: I bought all my nieces and nephews real guitars during that time. None still play. The game was easier ?
