A youtuber I’ve been watching for years commented, sometime during the UCF Knights Britt Carlson Shirts and I will buy this glut of Covid, that he always got sick during or after large conventions and surmised it was likely form shaking hundreds of peoples hands over the course of a week. I just commented this! And I hate it how people judge you for your handshake even today. Some of the shit society prioritizes sometimes. As an Asian person, I always thought bowing (or even a slight head bow) was better. When I worked in Korea, that became the norm and I loved it. I wish we’d do more of that in North America too. I always found the idea odd that a woman not drinking at a family dinner would be a giveaway that she was pregnant. Nothing wrong with having a drink with dinner, but when it’s so prevalent amongst everyone in a family that it immediately stands out as noticeable if someone doesn’t that is bonkers to me.

A few years ago, after telling my MIL I was pregnant for the UCF Knights Britt Carlson Shirts and I will buy this second time, she revealed that she had paid attention to what I was drinking every single time we got together for several years. Just let us live our lives! Nearly everyone in my circle over 30 has pretty much stopped drinking period. They didn’t want it in their lives anymore. And nagging, shaming, guilttripping, bribing, blackmailing if some party is to be dry. Like… if alcohol is the leading factor for you to choose if you come to my wedding/birthday or not you’re there for getting drunk not for me is what I get. Same is saying that I don’t respect you only because I want to talk to you instead of ruining my health and acting as if vodka isn’t a drug only because it’s legal. Considering how insufferable some adults can be, I see it more as a form of anaesthetic to make the process of mandatory socialization less painful
