It is alarming. But I will also add that there’s a good chance that several to many of those women have chosen to opt out of prenatal care. The “free birth” movement has been gaining lots of traction in the Try to be a nice person but sometimes my mouth doesn’t cooperate cat shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this last few years especially, largely due to medical misinformation, and women are choosing to not have prenatal care, no ultrasounds, no testing, and birth their babies at home. Free birthers seem to be mostly middle- and upper-income though. I’m not saying they aren’t accounting for any of these cases, but I would suspect lack of health care access to play more of a role than what is still a pretty fringe group. And in certain states, it’s also a good chance that the same medical institution that provided them with prenatal care they could afford was shut down due to also providing abortion services. I’ll be honest, as someone who’s mostly lived in red states sexual health is some of the most easily accessible health care. Especially when low income. Most cities or counties will have a office through the department of health or human services. Pretty much every major city has some sort of clinic operated by donations that runs sliding scale costs, in many cases free.

The real problem is education, stigma, and people not knowing they need to get tested regularly (every 3/6months, 12 if monogamous) if they are sexually active. This is just fucking crazy to me that this is happening in “the Try to be a nice person but sometimes my mouth doesn’t cooperate cat shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this wealthiest country in the world” we are going the wrong direction in this country. Hear me out, the government could force porn websites to put sex education trailers in porn clips. You could reach a large audience very quickly! Disney got famous for preventing people from skipping the commercials on DVDs and Bluray. So the solution is have Disney make the porn discs. I saw it a lot training in Phoenix, mostly younger groups to middle age. I also trained at a county program though so the population was poorer/less educated on average and the typical population that is plagued with STD/STIs for a lot of reasons (riskier behavior, less access to regular testing/treatment, poorer sex education, etc.) I haven’t seen a case of syphillis where I now work in the Midwest and I test for it fairly routinely for anyone concerned regarding STD exposure. American health care is shameful. The right only care about the unborn, once you take your first breath you’re on your own. That’s the secret they don’t even care about the unborn. They only care about what fake outrage they can inspire to get more money and stay in power.
